1st Easingwold (Forest of Galtres) Scout Group is a registered charity, governed according to the Scout Association Royal Charter.
We are fortunate to own an excellent Scout Centre in Easingwold and the
Easingwold Outdoor Centre just outside the town.
The Group organises
Easingwold's annual Bonfire and Fireworks Display - a major event which attracts almost 2,000 people each year from as far away as Tyneside.
The money made at the bonfire allows the group to invest in its facilities for the benefit of the Beavers Cubs and Scouts, while excellent support from the local community allows the group to spend its money on the things that matter.
Easingwold chartered accountant
Nigel Atkinson audits our accounts at no cost to the group and solicitor
Graeme Burn carries out much pro bono work on our behalf. York architect
Philip Rickinson and green energy consultant
Spencer Cassidy are working for free on our Outdoor Centre project, while
Peter Cole from Hambleton District Council is providing essential support and advice.
The Scout Group is led by a Group Scout Leader and managed by a Group Executive Committee. They are accountable to the Group Scout Council for the satisfactory running of the Group. The Group Scout Leader is assisted and supported by the Group Scouters in the delivery of the Balanced Programme for young people within the Group
The Scout Council
The link between the community and the Scout Group is the Scout Council.
It meets at least once a year at the AGM and consists of Scouters, Colony, Pack and Troop Assistants, Skills Instructors, Administrators, Advisers, Patrol Leaders, all parents of Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts and any other supporters including former Scouts and their parents who may be admitted by the Group Scout Leader, the Group Executive Committee or the Group Scout Council.
The Group Executive Committee
The Group Executive Committee exists to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of their appointment.
The Committee is responsible for the maintenance of the Group’s property and equipment, the raising of funds and the administration of the Group’s finance, the insurance of persons, property and equipment, the Group public occasions and assisting with the recruitment of Leaders and other adult support.
The committee consists of Ex-officio Members, the Group Chairman, the Group Secretary, the Group Treasurer, the Group Scout Leader, the Assistant Group Scout Leader and,if they wish to be members, all Section Leaders.
